Open Knowledge Initiatives (OKI) by IIIT-Hyderabad is excited to announce that applications are now open for the OKI Summer Internship 2026, a nationwide initiative to build a shared digital open knowledge ecosystem for Indian languages.
About the Internship
This 45-day remote internship offers students and recent graduates a unique opportunity to contribute to the open knowledge ecosystem in their native languages.
Program Overview
Role: Open Knowledge Project Intern
Format: Flexible, 100% remote (online)
Timeframe: A 45-day commitment, beginning shortly after the final selection process
Opportunities Available: 140 interns
Language Focus: Maximum of 10 positions available for each supported language
Application Deadline: April 5, 2026
What You Will Learn
During the program, interns will:
Learn to contribute to Wikidata, the world’s most powerful open knowledge graph
Gain hands-on experience in digital archiving through Wikimedia Commons and Wikisource
Develop research skills in public domain works
