How to maintain a library at home
How to maintain a library at home
Mark a room as reading room
The reading room will not only have a library which will house all those precious books in the shelves, but will give a very scholarly and erudite feeling to the entire house. So mark one room and work on the interiors of the room accordingly. Your library room should have a beautiful table lamp, a very nice study table and a pen stand, a socket to connect your desktop or tablet to wi fi connection.
Apart from arranging the books in alphabetical order think about things like in priority of which books you frequently read and what genre or authors interest you the most etc. This will make you recollect about where a particular book is placed. Also, this will let you arrange shelves in order.
Make it well ventilated
Periodically clean the shelves
If not cleaned, books may gather dust. This is not healthy for books only. Avoid keeping too many dog eared books in your library. They would take away the charm from the well arranged library.

A dramatic day of Champions League action saw a stunning win for Manchester United and progression, but at a cost, for Borussia Dortmund. Here is what caught the eye in Wednesday's final round of 16 matches:
Nepal: SP Khakurel (c), Sagar Pun, G Malla, P Khadka (wk), B Bhandari, S Vesawkar, B Regmi, NB Budayair, SP Gauchan, Sompal Kami, JK Mukhiya
Both the teams have only mathematical chances of reaching the main round, with Bangladesh topping Group A.
Commentary (Afghanistan 1st Innings)
The Nepalese bowlers were absolutely sensational today. Sagar Pun, the part-timer was superb in his three overs while Jitendra Mukhiya was phenomenal in hitting the yorker lengths at will in the death overs. Gauchan took a couple of wickets in his first over itself and the fielding was outstanding too. Afghanistan's batting was survived by Stanizkai and Shafiqullah towards the death overs but in the end, they fell short of 9 runs.
Nepal were struggling in the first innings but then the duo of Khakurel and Vesawkar did an extremely remarkable job of first snitching a partnership, then accelerating the run-scoring in the end.
Amongst minnows itself, we have a shock win here! Afghanistan beat Bangladesh in the Asia Cup and now have been defeated by Nepal in the World T20 qualifier. That is what exactly this format does.
19.6 S Kami to M Ashraf, Nepal win by 9 runs! What an emphatic victory for the less-known minnows. Length delivery angled across, Dawlat misses out and the Nepalese fielders rejoice in delight. 132/8
Dawlat Zadran walks out to face the last ball. 10 required off 1 ball.
19.5 S Kami to A Stanikzai, OUT! Stanikzai's gone! End of Afghanistan's fight and Nepal will rejoice, if not for an extra delivery. A low full toss, maximum runs were there for the taking but Stanikzai's bat turned in his hand and the ball went down the throat of Malla at long on. 132/8
19.4 S Kami to A Stanikzai, FOUR! Afghanistan are still in the game, 10 required off 2 balls! Stanikzai is down with cramps again! Short of a length, it's been slapped away over mid-wicket. 132/7
19.3 S Kami to A Stanikzai, Full and wide outside off, Stanikzai slogs it through mid-wicket. They come back for the risky second but the keeper collected the throw but did not break the stumps. 128/7

19.2 S Kami to A Stanikzai, FOUR! Yet another misfield from the same fielder off the same shot. Another full ball on the stumps, Stanikzai slogs it yet again wide of long on. Malla runs across but yet again doesn't field well to allow the boundary. 126/7

Master’s degree without the basic degree is invalid”
A Master’s degree, obtained through the Open University system, without a foundation degree, or the basic degree equivalent to a recognised degree, is invalid, the Madras High Court has ruled. Such a degree is not valid for any purpose, including employment, it said.
A Division Bench of Justice P.K. Misra and Justice K.K. Sasidharan, passing orders on two writ appeals and a writ petition, said UGC Regulations had made it clear that “no person is eligible to appear for the M.A. examination of the Open University, unless such person had obtained the first degree.”
It further said: “There is no doubt that UGC regulations do not contemplate conferment of a Master’s degree through the Open University system unless a person has got the first degree either as a formal student or under non-formal/distance education system. It is, thus, apparent that conferment of Master’s degree through the non-formal system or the Open University system is contemplated only when the student desirous of taking such a degree has already obtained the first degree, namely, the graduation degree.” “Various correspondence also indicate that even the persons, who had obtained the first degree by not completing the three-year degree course after Plus-Two, were required to undergo a bridge course for one year before becoming eligible for being … a candidate for M.A. examination of the open university system…
There is not even a single correspondence on record to indicate that indirectly the UGC had ever approved allowing persons to appear for M.A. examination, though such persons had not obtained the first degree,” the judgement said.
The matter relates to a writ petition filed against the appointment of Mr. Ramesh as principal of Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu. The appointment was challenged on the ground that he had obtained M.A. from Annamalai University without any preceding formal education.
The State Government, in its counter-affidavit, contended that as per an August 1997 order, a degree obtained through the Open University was equivalent to the degree obtained in the regular stream for employment in a government department.
The UGC, which was impleaded as respondent as per the directions of the Supreme Court, said as per the UGC (Minimum Standards of Instructions for the grant of First Degree Through Non-formal/Distance Education in the Faculties of Arts, Humanities, Fine Arts, Music, Social Sciences, Commerce and Sciences) Regulations 1985, no student who had not successfully pursued the first degree course of three-year duration was eligible to seek admission to the Master’s course.
Issue relates to a writ filed against the appointment of principal of Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu

The Cornell System Effective and Efficient Note Taking
Over the years, there have been many tried and tested systems of note taking proposed for students and business people alike. The Cornell Note Taking System is a very simple yet effective system.
Originally developed for students by Walter Pauk at Cornell University, it is effective whenever you need to take notes and recall information.
The Cornell System is a great way of organizing your notes so that you can later identify the key points and actions, and recall information easily. With this system, you organize the notes as you take them; there is no need to go extra effort of rewriting your notes. So the system is both effective and efficient.
